Program Overview
In the quest of the foundation to heal, care for, save and improve lives of young people, SLF engages in the following programs.
Program 1: Education and Awareness Creation (EAC)
Using workshops, talk shops, conferences, outings, traditional, digital, and social media, journals, publications, and opinion pieces, the SLF educates and creates awareness on mental health issues continuously. The activities under this program are key to fostering conversations about suicide and break the stigma attached to it. Some of these activities will be packaged as projects for sponsors, supporters, and partners to fund for a duration of time. However, since knowledge grows and people keep changing, there will always be need for education and awareness creation for mental health challenges in various settings where youth live, work, play and learn.
Program 2: Access to Therapy. (A2T)
Therapy is a viable, safe option for young people and families going through mental challenges and struggling to confide in each other. To aid this, we provide both virtual and face-to-face therapy sessions and account for all ethical and confidentiality considerations, i.e. child protection and safeguarding protocols. There are pro-bono sessions offered by partners of the Foundation. Paid therapy sessions are dependent upon the availability of the Foundation’s raised funds. All the therapy sessions are solicited from pre-selected professional experts who are part of the database.
Creating a database
The Foundation is focused on building an easily accessible database that offers information on mental health challenges and provides resources for the prevention and treatment of mental health issues. Our database is also a space for professionals, service providers and organisation, particularly those offering music related services, i.e., producers, marketers, photographers, videographers to connect with people who need their respective services. Our database adheres to relevant child protection and safeguarding disclaimers.
Support Groups for families.
We offer support groups for people who have lost a loved one to mental health challenges and are searching for a safe space to reconcile questions and feelings they have without feeling judged.
Program 3: Hope Amplification (HA)
Talent Identification and support
We support and nurture vulnerable yet talented young people looking to break into the music industry by providing technical material (where feasible), linkages, networking, and collaboration support. We provide access to a recording studio to assist in music production, hoping to help young people break into the difficult, costly, and sometimes mentally straining artistic industry.
As the Foundation grows, there is a plan to build a rehabilitation centre to check in people who need help in the extreme cases of suicide risk, suicide ideation and suicide attempt. This house of hope will be a safe place where people can get help, for a certain period, be empowered and renew their hope to live again, without being judged. This would lead to an Ambassadorship or Alumni Program where survivors can educate and share their knowledge with the community at large.
